Robotic Knee Replacement
The world has witnessed the power of technology and advancements in the past few years. The human world has experienced a fierce change in its medical world where modern techniques and technologies are involving and overtaking the conventional treatments at a great speed.

Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery in India

Knee ReplacementRobotic knee replacement surgery has gifted a normal, healthier and safe life for many patients. Patients themselves express their happiness of getting healthy lives after being treated through robotic technique.

Robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery was also introduced in an attempt to explore component alignment and to improve long-term clinical outcomes and implant durability, particularly in younger people.

Various comparative studies proved that improved alignment of the components was obtained after the robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery.

However, no comprehensive synthesis of long-term randomized data has been conducted particularly for robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, particularly in younger people.

It is necessary to find whether the improved alignment of the components obtained by using robotic-assistance, would improve better long-term and functional outcomes and survivorship of knee surgery.

The main objective of the current study was to scrutinize the two groups of patients after long-term follow-up to find whether the clinical outcomes, radiographic and CT scan outcomes and the survivorship of knee surgery would be better after robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery or not.

How Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery Works?

Robotic knee surgery allows the doctor to collect patient-related information during the procedure to get a 3D structure of the knee to help plan the surgery.

Robotic knee replacement surgery is carried out with the help of the robotic surgery system, using a Robodoc system. CT-based preoperative planning using Integrated Surgical Technology Corp performed in the beginning before the day of surgery, and the robotic-assisted surgery using the ROBODOC surgical assistance in the second step.

The bone markers are registered to the computer, and the computer arm performs all the cutting and preparation of bones. This is in contrast to conventional jigs and cutting blocks. Actual implantation of the implants is performed by a surgeon. A Duracon posterior cruciate-substituting total knee prosthesis is used in all knees.
